KNOXVILLE, Tenn – South Carolina junior diver Rylan Ridenour finished eighth in the preliminaries of the three-meter springboard with a score of 346.85 on Friday in the USA Diving Winter National Championships.

With the eighth-place finish, Ridenour advances to the quarterfinals, which will be held on Sunday. Ridenour also prequalified for the quarterfinals of the one-meter springboard, which will be held on Tuesday. The USA Diving Winter Nationals provides divers with the chance to qualify for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials and will help fill out the rosters for the FINA World Cup in February.

On the women’s side, South Carolina senior Courtney Forcucci prequalified for the quarterfinals in both the one and three-meter springboards. Forcucci will compete in the one-meter semifinals on Saturday and the three-meter quarterfinals on Tuesday. Former Gamecock All-American Allison Brennan also prequalified for the three-meter quarterfinals.
