The University of South Carolina placed two players on the Associated Press All-America teams, it was announced today.

Sophomore wide receiver Alshon Jeffery was named to the second team unit while sophomore cornerback Stephon Gilmore earned third team accolades.

Jeffery, a 6-4, 233-pounder from St. Matthews, S.C., set South Carolina school records in both receptions (79) and receiving yards in a season (1,387). He was one of three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award, which goes to the nation’s top receiver and has been a unanimous first-team All-SEC selection. He was a first-team All-American according to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and was a second team selection by the Walter Camp Football Foundation (WCFF).

Gilmore, a 6-1, 188-pounder from Rock Hill, S.C., leads the team in tackles with 71 from his cornerback position and tied for the team lead with two interceptions. He was a first-team All-SEC selection by the league’s coaches and earned second team All-SEC honors from the AP.
