South Carolina placed two players on Phil Steele’s 2010 Midseason All-American Team, it was announced today.

Sophomore wide receiver Alshon Jeffery was a first-team selection while sophomore cornerback Stephon Gilmore was named to the third-team.

On Tuesday, eight Gamecocks earned spots on Steele’s 2010 Midseason All-SEC team. Jeffery and Gilmore were first team selections. Freshman tailback Marcus Lattimore and sophomore defensive end Devin Taylor earned spots on the second team, while junior quarterback Stephen Garcia, junior defensive tackle Travian Robertson, senior defensive end Cliff Matthews and senior punter Spencer Lanning were named to the third team squad.

The No. 19/20 Gamecocks (4-2, 2-2 SEC) will travel to Nashville this weekend to face the Vanderbilt Commodores (2-4, 1-2, SEC) in another SEC Eastern Division showdown. Saturday’s game will kick at 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. CT) at Vanderbilt Stadium. The game will be televised on FSN with Rich Waltz handling the play-by-play, former Kentucky quarterback Tim Couch providing the analysis and Jenn Hildreth on the sidelines.
