* USC came out of the Vanderbilt came with perhaps its most extensive injury list of the season. Center C.J. Frye has a left knee sprain and will undergo an MRI Sunday afternoon. He is listed as out for the Mississippi State game this week. Linebacker Lance Laury likewise has a left knee sprain and was scheduled to have an MRI Sunday afternoon. His status is predicated on the outcome of the test. Offensive guards Shane Hall and Cedric Williams both had MRIs Sunday as precautionary measures for the neck strains they suffered against Vanderbilt. Both players are listed as questionable for the MSU contest. Linebacker Rod Thomas, who has been out the past four weeks with an ankle injury, will undergo surgery this Friday to repair that injury. Wide receiver James Adkisson, who has been out since the Virginia game with a knee sprain, is still listed as doubtful for this week’s game.

* Senior wide receiver/tailback Ryan Brewer now has caught at least one pass in 29 consecutive games. The school record is 34 currently held by Sterling Sharpe and Jermale Kelly.

* USC ranks third in the SEC in pass efficiency, with a 140.3 rating. Gamecock quarterbacks have completed 74 of 116 passes for 916 yards and six touchdowns with four interceptions.

* The Gamecocks also rank third in the SEC in punting, with a 39.6 average. That average is 13th in the NCAA.

* Senior quarterback Corey Jenkins ranks fourth in the SEC and 22nd in the NCAA in total offense, averaging 255.2 yards per game. Jenkins also ranks fifth in the SEC in rushing (86.6) and third in pass efficiency (137.7).

* Tyeler Dean is the 2nd ranked punter in the SEC, averaging 45.4 yards per punt.

* Saturday’s game against Mississippi State will be Homecoming on the USC campus. The Gamecocks are 1-1 vs. MSU in Homecoming games, winning 23-19 in 2000 and losing 14-10 in 1996.
