COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina sent 33 batters to the plate in the first two innings Wednesday night and scored in every inning in a 29-4 rout of Wofford that was called after 6 ? innings.

Conor Lalor, the first of five Gamecock pitchers in a pre-determined split, pitched the first two innings to improve his record to 4-0 as the 10th ranked Gamecocks improved their overall mark to 16-5. He allowed two hits, walked one and struck out two.

Wofford fell to 2-16 and Terrier starter Culley Kline saw his record drop to 0-5. He lasted only two thirds of an inning and was charged with 11 runs, seven of them earned. The Gamecock scored double digit runs in the first two innings, 11 in the first and 12 in the second, to lead 23-0. South Carolina added two runs in the third, one in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Wofford scored all of its runs in the third inning on three hits and two walks off Gamecock relief pitcher Forrest Beverly. Blake Timanus and Scott Holloway drove in two runs apiece with back to back doubles.

South Carolina combined 24 hits, nine bases on balls, two hit batters, four wild pitches and one Wofford error in compiling its 29 runs, the most by a Gamecock baseball team since a 38-16 win over Clemson in 1997.

The Gamecocks set a school record with 10 hits in the second inning. The previous record for hits in an inning was nine.

Bryan Triplett had four hits in four official at bats, including a double, and drove in three runs. Brian Buscher drove in six runs with two homers and a double. He has six home runs this season and raised his team leading batting average to .417. Buscher stretched his current hitting streak to 10 games. He began the season with a 10 game streak and has at least one hit in 20 of 21 games.

Michael Campbell, Jon Coutlangus and Demetric Smith also homered for the Gamecocks. It was the third for Campbell and the first for Coutlangus and Smith. Campbell had three hits and three RBI and the Coutlangus homer drove in three runs. The Smith homer drove in two runs.

Designated hitter Hank Parks drove in four runs with a pair of doubles and a bases loaded walk. Landon Powell had two hits, including a double, and drove in two. Sadry Caf? had two hits, two RBI and scored three times. Kevin Melillo had one hit but walked three times and scored four runs.

Each of the nine players in the starting batting order for South Carolina had at least one hit and Coach Ray Tanner used 19 players, including five pitchers.

South Carolina travels to Knoxville for a weekend Southeastern Conference three game series against Tennessee Friday through Sunday.
