COLUMBIA, S.C. –
Members of the USC football team will again be active in the community when they hold a car wash on Saturday, July 19, to benefit Shaw Air Force Base.

Honorary coaches for USC’s April 12 spring football game honored two of the Midlands military installations as representatives from Ft. Jackson of Columbia coached the Garnet squad and Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter led the White squad. By virtue of a 21-13 White victory, Shaw AFB will receive the proceeds from Saturday’s car wash for use in a charity of its designation.

The car wash is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and will continue until 1 p.m. at the National Pride Car Wash, 2416 Broad River Road in Columbia. Offensive players will participate from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. with defensive players slated for 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

South Carolina kicks off its 2003 season on Aug. 30 with a home contest against Louisiana-Lafayette.
