Columbia, S.C. – The University of South Carolina women’s tennis team will prepare for the spring dual match season by competing in their second tournament of the fall. The Gamecocks last competed at the Furman Fall Classic the last weekend of September. South Carolina’s lineup for the ITA Southeast Regional will consist of three freshman and one junior. Laura Ganzer, Christyn Lucas, Grace Blakley, and Fallon Koon will represent the Gamecocks this weekend in Winston-Salem.

In the Furman Fall Classic, Koon won her respected flight with 7-6(5),6-3 victory in the final. Koon missed the entire 2003 season due to shoulder surgery. Ganzer, Lucas, and Blakely all freshmen who are looking to gain experience by playing in this weekend’s tournament. The tournament will start on Thursday at the Wake Forest tennis facility and it will feature players from other top tennis programs such as Duke, and Vanderbilt.

The ITA Southeast Regional Tournament is the first of three tournaments in a row for the Gamecocks. The Gamecocks will host the 2003 Southern Intercollegiate at Maxcy Gregg Tennis courts and the Sam Daniels Tennis Facility on the USC campus. After hosting the Southern Intercollegiate, the Gamecocks will take part in the 2003 SEC Fall Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia.
