Columbia, S.C. – The University of South Carolina has reached agreement with Contract Construction, Inc. to begin the construction phase for the new baseball stadium. Mobilization will begin immediately with construction to follow. The award for the contract went for $24.738 million ($24,738,855.00).
“I could not be more excited to begin the construction of the Gamecock Baseball Stadium,” said athletics director Eric Hyman. “Our student-athletes, coaches and the Gamecock Nation will be able to take great pride in this magnificent facility. There will not be a more impressive college baseball stadium in the country.”
The new baseball facility is part of the Athletics Master Plan for Facilities that was unveiled by athletics director Eric Hyman. The stadium is scheduled to be completed in time to open the 2009 season.
“We are officially under way with the final phase of our new stadium,” said head baseball coach Ray Tanner. “I’m looking forward to watching it come out of the ground. Dr. Sorensen, Rick Kelly, Eric Hyman and many others have spent an enormous amount of time and energy to get to this point. Our Carolina Family will be extremely proud of this baseball complex.”
