COLUMBIA, S.C. – Current Gamecock divers Allison Barr and All-American Taryn Zack and former All-American standout Allison Brennan are set to compete at the Speedo USA Diving Spring National Championships in Minneapolis, Minn., April 13-20, at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. Titles will be awarded in 1-meter and 3-meter springboard, 10-meter platform, synchronized 3-meter and synchronized 10-meter.

Not only will divers compete for national championships, but they also will be vying for spots at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Diving Team Trials. The top eight divers on 3-meter and 10-meter will qualify for the Trials, which will be held June 18-22 in Indianapolis, Ind.

Brennan has automatically qualified into the women’s 3-meter semifinals based on her third-place finish at the 2007 spring nationals, while Barr and Zack will compete in the 1-meter and 3-meter preliminaries to try to advance into the semifinal round. (Divers can pre-qualify into the semifinals based on finishes in past events, so the number of qualifying spots available on each event varies to get to 24 divers in the semifinals).
