Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina senior right-handed pitcher Brandon Todd and junior right-handed pitcher Mike Cisco have been selected in the 36th round of the 2008 MLB Draft on Friday afternoon. The Florida Marlins selected Todd with Cisco going to the Philadelphia Phillies. Todd recorded five saves out of the bullpen for Carolina this year with Cisco compiling a 6-3 record along with two saves on the year.

Todd made 19 appearances out of the bullpen for Carolina and finished 3-2 with five saves. He hurled 25 innings and struck out 37 batters. Todd posted saves vs. Mississippi State, College of Charleston, Western Carolina, Auburn and Furman. His victories came in contests with Kentucky, Auburn and Tennessee.

Through three seasons, Cisco has recorded 19 career victories and has hurled 246.1 innings for the Gamecocks. This season, Cisco opened the year with wins in starts vs. East Carolina, Clemson and Duquesne. Cisco would also pick up victories against Mississippi State, Ole Miss and James Madison. He would also earn two saves in the postseason vs. Florida at the SEC Tournament and vs. Charlotte in the NCAA Regional.

Cisco was a 2006 SEC All-Freshman selection and was also named to the 2006 NCAA Regional All-Tournament team after a complete game in a 4-2 victory over Evansville.

The selections of Todd and Cisco brings the count up to seven Carolina players to be selected in the 2008 MLB Draft. On day one, Justin Smoak and Reese Havens were selected in the first round by the Texas Rangers and New York Mets respectively with James Darnell going in the second round to the San Diego Padres. Will Atwood was the first player selected on day two as he went in the 12th round to the Washington Nationals with Phil Disher going in the 15th round to the Houston Astros.
