COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina junior Courtney Forcucci was named the Southeastern Conference’s Female Diver of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Forcucci, a native of Fort Mill, S.C., won both the one- and three-meter events on Saturday in a tri-meet with North Carolina and Virginia Tech in Chapel Hill, N.C. She took first place in the one-meter event with a score of 289.75 to outpace teammate Taryn Zack, then she posted a score of 331.85 in the three-meter event to overtake a pack of Tar Heel and Hokie divers. Last week, before voting for weekly awards began, Forcucci won the three-meter event in the Gamecocks’ dual meet with Kentucky.
The transfer from the University of Houston captures her initial SEC award after being named Conference USA Diver of the Week numerous times while a member of the Cougars.
Other SEC weekly honorees were Tennessee’s Brad Craig (male swimmer) and Ryan Helms (male diver), LSU’s Andrei Tuomola (male freshman) and Rebecca St. Germain (female freshman) and Arkansas’ Yi-Ting Siow (female swimmer).
South Carolina’s next meet is Friday, Oct. 30, as the Gamecocks travel to the Upstate to face archrival Clemson.
