The University of South Carolina Athletics Department is reminding all fans planning on attending Saturday’s football game between the Gamecocks and Florida Gators to “let the buyer beware” when purchasing tickets from scalpers either online or outside Williams-Brice Stadium.

The athletics department has received several incident reports this year of people purchasing football game tickets that have already gone through the scanning process at the entry gates, rendering the ticket useless. In addition, the athletics department received the following message from the University of Florida this week:

*Be On Alert for Possible Counterfeit Tickets*

The Gator Athletic Ticket Office wants to remind fans that large numbers of stolen and counterfeit tickets are sold to UF’s Southeastern Conference contests and other high-profile games every year. These tickets are sold over the Internet and by ticket sellers around the stadium on game day. Unfortunately, hundreds of Gator fans have been defrauded.

Saturday’s game pits the Gamecocks (6-4, 3-4 SEC) against the top-ranked Gators (9-0, 7-0 SEC). Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. ET and will be televised nationally on CBS with Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson and Tracy Wolfson as the announce team. The game is sold out.
