The University of South Carolina football squad held its fourth workout of the spring Friday afternoon at the Bluff Road practice fields. The team was in full pads for the second straight day.

“We had a pretty good practice,” said head coach Steve Spurrier following Friday’s session. “We’ll scrimmage tomorrow around 10:45, open to the public. We’ll try to let all the young guys play a little bit, and the older guys play a little bit and see if we can’t improve a bit.”

The Gamecocks have several quarterbacks in camp, but Coach Spurrier does not expect to get them all in Saturday’s scrimmage. “We’ve got six or seven (quarterbacks). We can’t coach seven of them. We’re trying to figure out the ones that can hopefully play next year and try to coach them the best we can.” Stephen Garcia and Connor Shaw have been taking most of the snaps this spring, with Andrew Clifford, Aramis Hillary and Zac Brindise also getting some reps.

The Gamecocks will move to Williams-Brice Stadium for Saturday morning’s scrimmage. The practice, which is open to the public, will begin at 10 a.m., with the scrimmage slated to begin around 10:45.
