COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina track and field program was honored as one of the top scholastic programs in the country by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) this week as 10 student-athletes earned All-Academic Team individual honors.

Six women and four men earned the individual honors to pace Carolina academically. South Carolina’s 10 selections rank second in the Southeastern Conference. Ole Miss led the SEC with 11 selections, and Carolina was followed by Tennessee (9), Arkansas (7), Georgia (7), LSU (7), Alabama (4), Kentucky (4) and Florida (3).

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including preliminary rounds) in their respective event.

Selections from the women’s team were Janica Austin, Sallie Gurganus, Aimee Kodat, Kelsey McCorkle, Stacee Roberts and Vica Shobe. Men’s team selections were Aaron Anderson, Elliott Haynie, Marvin Reitze and Michael Zajac.
