COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina freshman tailback Marcus Lattimore has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.
Lattimore, a 6-0, 218-pounder from Duncan, S.C., rushed for 182 yards on 37 carries and scored the Georgia game’s only two touchdowns in his first SEC contest on Saturday. The 37 carries is a freshman school record and was the third-highest single game mark in Carolina history. The 182-yards rushing was the most by a Gamecock since the 2000 season.
After two games, Lattimore has rushed 51 times for 236 yards and four touchdowns. He is averaging 118.0 yards rushing per game and 4.6 yards per carry. The South Carolina freshman single season rushing record is held by Thomas Dendy, who rushed for 848 yards in 1982.
