University of South Carolina Spur Damario Jeffery has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District III first team, it was announced today by the Academic All-America Committee.

Jeffery, a 6-3, 220-pound sophomore from Columbia, earned a spot on the District III first team after posting a 3.42 grade point average (GPA) in sports and entertainment management.

On the field, Jeffery has played in all eight games this season, starting three. He has logged 21 tackles while splitting time at the Spur position with Antonio Allen. Jeffery, who prepped at Columbia High School, had a season-high six tackles in the season opener against Southern Miss.

Nominations and voting for the All-America programs are conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. There is a University Division (Division I programs) and a College Division (DII, DIII, NAIA, NJCAA programs).

Three Academic All-District teams are chosen in each district, with those on the All-District first teams placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
