KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – South Carolina junior Courtney Forcucci took fourth place in the 3-meter springboard final, leading the Gamecock divers on day one of the Tennessee Diving Invitational on Monday at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatics Center.
Forcucci, a native of Fort Mill, S.C., scored a 309.75 to earn fourth place in a 12-diver final, finishing just two points out of second place and 13 points shy of winning the event. She earned a spot in the finals with a score of 303.65 in preliminaries, taking fifth place in that round.
Sophomore Chay Malvasio also competed in the event, taking a 36th-place finish in prelims with a score of 191.45.
For the Gamecock men, sophomore Rylan Ridenour posted the top finish with a 276.55 in the 1-meter springboard prelims to finish in 18th place, just missing the finals. Sophomore Nikolas Sachs was 39th with a 211.15, and freshman Andrew Helmich finished 40th with a 203.35.
The Gamecock divers will return to the boards at noon Tuesday as the men will compete on the 3-meter board and the women will dive from the 1-meter board. Live scoring is available through divemeets.com.
