LOS ANGELES, Calif. – South Carolina divers had an excellent day on Friday competing at the 2011 AT&T National Diving Championships, being held this week at the Spieker Aquatics Center and Dirks Pool on the campus of UCLA. Senior diver Courtney Forcucci and former Gamecock diver AllisonRylan Ridenour finished eighth overall in the men’s one-meter event.
Ridenour earned a total score of 337.65 in the semifinals of the one-meter event, posting a top score of 60.80 on his second dive, a forward 2 1/2 somersault 1 twist pike. Ridenour finished eighth overall in the competition with a total of 333.00 in the final round. His top dive of the final round came on a reverse 2 1/2 somersault tuck, where he earned a score of 63.00.
Brennan finished fourth in the quarterfinal round of the three-meter event with a mark of 287.70, while Forcucci finished tied for 15th with a score of 250.50, as both advanced to the semifinal round.
Brennan turned in a score of 284.60 in the semifinals, earning a sixth-place finish to advance to Sunday’s final. Her top score in the round came on her last dive, a reverse 1 1/2 somersault 2 1/2 twist free, where she earned a mark of 59.45. Forcucci finished eighth with a total score of 283.45. Her top mark of the round also came on her fifth dive, a reverse 2 1/2 somersault pike, where she earned a high mark of 63.00.
Brennan and Forcucci will compete in the finals of the three meter on Sunday, with diving set to begin at 2 p.m. ET. On Sunday, television coverage will feature the men’s platform final on NBC from 3-4 p.m. ET, followed by Universal Sports coverage of the women’s 3-meter and men’s synchronized 3-meter final from 4:30-6:30 p.m. ET.
