CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – South Carolina women’s tennis freshman Brigit Folland posted her second consecutive unbeaten day at the Kitty Harrison Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Saturday.
Folland registered her second win of the fall against a top-50 opponent with a 6-2, 6-1 performance over No. 50 Cindy Chala from VCU. In doubles, she teamed with classmate Caroline Dailey to defeat Courter and Heitzner of Minnesota, 8-5
Elixane Lechemia, Dailey and Natalie Looney also picked up victories in singles on the day. Lechemia won easily against No. 100 Ashley Dai from North Carolina by scores of 6-1, 6-3. Dailey won in three sets versus Yukato Noi of VCU, 5-7, 6-2, (10-8), while Looney also needed three sets to oust Olga Terteac, 7-6, 2-6, (11-9).
Lechemia picked up a victory in doubles as well playing alongside Meghan Blevins. The duo registered an 8-3 triumph over Brichacova and Mozia from Minnesota.
Play continues at the Kitty Harrison Invitational on Sunday morning.
