The Gamecocks head to the Big Apple for the Armory Collegiate Invitational at the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory on Friday and Saturday. The field boasts nearly 100 universities and colleges from across the nation and globe and has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA)’s Division I National Meet of the Week. Competition is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday with Saturday events scheduled for 8:30 a.m.

The No. 15 South Carolina women’s team will face four other teams ranked in this week’s USTFCCCA national computer rankings. No. 6 Arkansas, No. 11 Kansas and No. 17 Mississippi State and No. 25 Georgetown await the Gamecocks at The Armory. The men’s field features seven ranked teams (No. 5 Wisconsin, No. 8 Arizona, No. 14 Cornell, No. 15 Mississippi State, No. 21 Mississippi, and No. 25 BYU). Vanderbilt and Missouri round out the SEC representatives at the meet.

Gamecocks in the Top 25
The top 16 marks/times for each individual event qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships. For the relay events, the top 12 teams will qualify for the championships.

Women’s Team Holds in the Rankings
The South Carolina track and field women’s team stayed at No. 15 for the second week in a row in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I National Team Computer Rankings released on Tuesday. Yet again, the SEC leads the nation with eight teams in the rankings. All eight SEC representatives are in the top 17.

The Gamecocks notch the competition up another level at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. South Carolina will take on many of its SEC foes at the meet in their final major meet before the SEC Indoor Championships in College Station, Texas, at Texas A&M on Feb. 27-March 1.
