AZUSA, Calif. – Freshman Alexandre Asselin and sophomore Sarah Graham completed the first day of competition in the decathlon and heptathlon at Mt SAC Relays at Azusa Pacific University on Wednesday.
Asselin is in 11th place overall, ninth collegiately, with 3,691 points halfway through the decathlon. Asselin set outdoor collegiate bests in the shot put 42′ ½” (12.81m) and the high jump 6′ 2 ¾” (1.90m). Asselin took fifth in the high jump.
Graham’s day was highlighted by a fifth-place finish in the high jump, clearing a height of 5’7 ¾” (1.72m) and a personal best performance in the 200 meters. Graham clocked in at 25.32 in sprint, the day’s final event, and sits in 13th place overall in field of stiff competition after the day’s four events with 3,298 points. She is in the top-five amongst collegians.
Competition resumes tomorrow with Asselin starting the day in the high hurdles at 3:30 p.m. ET. Graham completes her final three events beginning at 4 p.m. ET.
