COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina women’s tennis sophomore Caroline Dailey won the doubles title at an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Summer Circuit event in Tallahassee, Fla., on Tuesday at Florida State’s Scott Speicher Tennis Center.

Dailey teamed up with Alexandra Baer, who will be a freshman at Michigan State this fall, for the ITA event. The duo began the tournament with an 8-2 win over Isabel Balsavage and Shannon Bettiol. In the semifinals, they registered a 9-8 victory against Ali Mills and Brooke Stevens. Dailey and Baer defeated Brittany Lindl and Blair Martin 8-4 in the championship match. Lindl plays for SEC rival Tennessee and Martin is a member of Furman’s squad.

Dailey went 20-11 in singles play as a freshman for the Gamecocks and was 14-13 in doubles. She ended the season playing the No. 5 singles position and was at No. 3 for doubles as well. Dailey and Ximena Siles Luna, her doubles partner to end the 2014 campaign, registered one victory over a nationally ranked team in their short time together.
