Gamecocks Set to Scrimmage Saturday

Aug. 8, 2014

The University of South Carolina football team will hold its first scrimmage of the preseason on Saturday, August 9. Practice will begin at 10 a.m. at Williams-Brice Stadium. The scrimmage is open to the public.

Fans attending the scrimmage are asked to sit on the west (press box) side of the stadium. Gates 2 and 9 on the west side will open at 9 a.m. Bag checkers will be utilized at each gate.

Media should enter through Gate 26.

Due to construction around the stadium, there will be limited parking available. Parking options include the stadium tarmac on the east side and in the northwest corner; the Key Road lot; and Quad 2 in Gamecock Park off of National Guard Road. Each of those parking lots will open at 8:30 a.m. Restrooms in Gamecock Park will not be open. An officer and patrol car will assist fans crossing from Gamecock Park.

The Gamecocks will open the season on Thursday, August 28 against Texas A&M. The 6 p.m. kick will be the first football game televised on the SEC Network.
