CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Due to weather, Saturday’s second-round action at the Tar Heel Invitational has been suspended. With the field either finished or on the back nine of the second round at the UNC Finley Golf Course, No. 2 South Carolina is 6-under and extended its lead to two strokes.

The second round will resume tomorrow morning at 8 a.m., with the final round set to start immediately after with a shotgun start. The projected start time of the third and final round is 9:15 a.m.

Freshman Nanna Madsen was 3-under through 12 holes of her round today and is 6-under for the tournament to hold a two-stroke lead on the individual leaderboard. Gamecock junior Mary Fran Hillow and Duke’s Celine Boutier are just behind Madsen at 4-under overall. Hillow was 1-under through 15 holes today.

The three other Gamecocks in the lineup also completed 15 holes before play was halted. Senior Justine Dreher is 2-under for the day and 1-over for the tournament. She is in 18th place currently. Sophomore Katelyn Dambaugh is 1-over in the second round and 3-over for the weekend to sit in a tie for 23rd. Sophomore Jia Xin Yang struggled for the second-straight round, heading to the clubhouse at 7-over for the day and 12-over for the tournament (T78th).

Competing as an individual in her first collegiate tournament this weekend, freshman Ainhoa Olarra finished her round earlier in the day. Olarra carded an 85 (+13) and is 20-over through two rounds.

Behind first-round leader South Carolina (-6) and Duke (-4) on the team leaderboard, no other team is under par. Wake Forest is 3-over, NC State is 6-over and Vanderbilt rounds out the top five at 12-over.
