COLUMBIA, S.C. – Freshman forward Simone Wark has been named SEC Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Wark scored the game-winner in the Gamecocks’ 1-0 win over Missouri on Sunday. With the win South Carolina improved to 8-1-0 and 2-0-0 in the SEC. Wark tallied three of the Gamecocks’ 11 shots in 23 minutes of action. The goal is the first of her career and she is the 15th different player to score a goal for South Carolina this season.

The Gamecocks are back in action on Thursday, hosting Texas A&M at Stone Stadium. The match is set to begin at 7:00 pm and will be televised on the SEC Network.
