New South Carolina Gamecocks Head Football Coach Will Muschamp will join the football coaches from around the state in the name of charity. The seventh annual South Carolina Coaches for Charity will be held on Tuesday, July 26, at the Hyatt Regency Greenville. Nearly 300 guests will be in attendance.

Coach Muschamp will share the stage with the head football coaches from the South Carolina universities: Mike Ayers (Wofford), Bruce Fowler (Furman), Buddy Pough (South Carolina State), Brent Thompson (The Citadel) and Dabo Swinney (Clemson). Each will bring their supporters to Greenville to help raise money for their respective charities. Money is also raised during the evening to help sponsor single-parent children attend Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) summer camps.

Additionally, each coach honors his annual recipient of Jerry Richardson Community MVP Award. Coach Muschamp’s 2016 Award honoree is Gamecocks Football legend Sheldon Brown, who spent 11 years in the NFL and now runs Brown’s Corner, a non-profit after-school program for kids.

The event is sponsored annually by the Fisher DeBerry Foundation, which is led by Hall of Fame and legendary former Air Force Falcons Head Football Coach Fisher DeBerry. The Foundation supports children of single-parent families.

“This event has come to mean so much for so many people,” said Fisher DeBerry. “From the kids who benefit, to the sponsors and guests who get to rub elbows with their favorite coaches, and the coaches themselves, who get to show their charitable heart. We’ve been in Columbia for the first six years, so we’re excited to bring it to the Upstate community for the first time.”

Proceeds raised from the event are split between the coaches’ charities. Coach Muschamp has chosen the Brookland-Lakeview Empowerment Center as his beneficiary. The Center is establishing an enrichment complex for families and children in the Lakeview community.

Tables and individual tickets are still available, though the evening is nearly sold out. The more tickets and tables purchased by fans of each school, the more money that will go towards that particular coach’s charity.
