Two Gamecocks to Participate in Tropical Bowl

Two University of South Carolina senior football players have been selected to play in the second annual Tropical Bowl, which will be held in Daytona Beach, Fla. on Sunday, January 15.

Gamecock defensive end Marquavius Lewis and defensive back Jordan Diggs will play for the National (Red) Team, which will be coached by Mike Stock.

Lewis, a 6-3, 270-pounder from Greenwood, S.C., started every game in his two-year Gamecock career, and was named one of four permanent team captains following the 2016 campaign. He recorded 48 tackles in his senior season, including 5.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.

Diggs, a 6-0, 205-pounder from Fort Myers, Fla., appeared in all 13 games in 2016, logging 25 tackles. He played in 53 games during his Gamecock career, making 14 starts while recording 140 tackles.

The 2017 Tropical Bowl, which will be played at Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium, will be streamed live over the internet by Audible Sports (audiblesports.net). Kick time is set for 9 am.
