Muschamp Shuffles Support Staff

Feb. 13, 2017

University of South Carolina head football coach Will Muschamp has made several changes to the program’s support staff, it was announced today.

Coach Muschamp has named Matt Lindsey as the program’s Director of Player Personnel, while Robbie Liles has been promoted to Director of Football Operations. In addition, Corey Miller has been named as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach.

Lindsey, 25, comes to Columbia after a stint with the Philadelphia Eagles. He joined the Eagles’ organization in 2013 as a scouting assistant, working with the pro and college scouting departments, before being promoted to College Scouting Coordinator in 2014. In that role, Lindsey served as the liaison between the scouting staff and the front office and handled day-to-day scheduling and organization of the scouting efforts for college all-star games, the NFL Combine as well as on-campus visits.

A native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Lindsey earned a degree in consumer sciences from the University of Alabama in 2013. He assisted all efforts of the football recruiting department as an undergraduate. The Crimson Tide earned three national championships during his tenure.

“Matt has a complete understanding of our operation from a recruiting standpoint,” said Coach Muschamp. “He worked for four years in the recruiting department at Alabama and has now added the experience of working in the NFL. He will be a valuable addition to our staff,” he added.

Liles, who has been part of the Gamecock football program for the past 16 years, moves into the Director of Football Operations role after one year as the Director of Player Personnel. Previously, Liles, 39, held titles of Director of Recruiting Operations (2013-15), Director of High School Relations (2006-12) and Football Recruiting Graduate Assistant (2001-05). He is a 2001 graduate of the University of South Carolina.

“I’m excited to move Robbie into this role,” said Coach Muschamp. “He has been a key member of the Gamecocks’ football staff for many years and, in his new role, will be assisted by Kim Fields in the day-to-day operations and logistics of the program.”

Corey Miller, a former Byrnes (S.C.) High School standout, joins the staff as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. He will work under the guidance of Jeff Dillman.

Miller played defensive end at Byrnes High under current Gamecock assistant coach Bobby Bentley. He played his college football at the University of Tennessee from 2010-13, logging 82 career tackles including 16 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks.

After a stint playing professional football for Lazio Marines American Football Team in Rome, Italy, Miller returned to Knoxville where he has served as a personal trainer at D1 Sports Training since 2015.
