South Carolina swimming and diving hosts the South Carolina Collegiate Invitational this weekend at Carolina Natatorium. The quad meet includes UNCW, East Carolina, Queens and Wingate and as South Carolina’s final home meet of the season, this weekend will serve to recognize the current Gamecock seniors.

The South Carolina Collegiate Invitational begins Friday at 4 p.m. and continues on Saturday at 10 a.m. The senior men will be honored before the start of Friday’s portion of the meet and the women will be recognized on Saturday.

The Gamecocks honor an outstanding senior class, including five NCAA All-Americans and numerous school record-holders. South Carolina also graduates two Olympians in Akram Mahmoud and Julia Vincent. There are a total of 23 seniors on the South Carolina roster, 11 men and 12 women.

South Carolina remains the host of the annual meet, taking first place in both the men’s and women’s competition at last year’s event. South Carolina tallied 22 first-place finishes at the 2017 South Carolina Collegiate Invitational, with junior Emma Barksdale highlighting the meet by taking down a school record to win the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:49.68.

Admission is free to both days of the South Carolina Collegiate Invitational. Fans who are unable to attend the meet are encouraged to follow the Gamecocks on Twitter and Instagram, @GamecockSwim, for updates on the team’s progress at the invitational. Live results from the meet will also be available online, here.
