After a record-breaking performance in its final home meet of the season, South Carolina swimming and diving is traveling to Blacksburg, Va., to finish the regular season. The Gamecocks will take part in the Virginia Tech ‘Technotational’ along with five other teams: Virginia Tech, William & Mary, Towson, James Madison (women) and North Florida (women). The Virginia Tech and Gamecock men are the only two teams ranked in the invitational with Virginia Tech at No. 20 and South Carolina at No. 25.

The meet will begin Friday with events continuing through Sunday. Each day of the meet will begin with preliminaries for each individual event at 10 a.m., followed by finals at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Two Gamecock women earned weekly honors for their performances at the South Carolina Collegiate Invitational last weekend. Julia Vincent was named the SEC Female Diver of the Week after breaking her own school record in the 1-meter with a 365.75. Emma Barksdale was also recognized as CollegeSwimming’s SEC Swimmer of the Week for her five-event performance at the invite. On the second day of competition, the junior swam the second-fastest 1650 freestyle in South Carolina history at 16:16.53, which doubled as the second-fastest time in the nation last week. On the same day, she also swam the nation’s fastest 400 IM of the week with a time of 4:08.91.

Six Gamecocks have recorded national top-25 times in individual events this season. Barksdale, Nils Wich-Glasen and Fynn Minuth each hold two top-25 times, Barksdale in the 200 and 400 IM, Wich-Glasen in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and Minuth in the 500 freestyle and 200 butterfly. Minuth also holds the Gamecocks top ranking at No. 8 in the 500 freestyle.
