Lujan Earns Academic All-America Second Team

COLUMBIA, S.C.- South Carolina senior diver Mikaela Lujan was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Women’s Division I At-Large Second Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) today.

A biological sciences major, Lujan has made the President’s List (4.00 GPA) every semester of her college career. Lujan has had success in the pool as well, qualifying for the NCAA Championships in each of her last three seasons. She took home three event wins and 12 other top-three finishes this past season.

Lujan’s recognition on the second team is the highest for a Gamecock swimmer or diver since Taryn Zack’s selection to the second team in 2012. She is the third female member of the Gamecock swimming and diving team to earn Academic All-America honors since head Coach McGee Moody took over the program in 2007-08.

The at-large teams for the Google Cloud Academic All-America program include the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis and water polo for both men and women, as well as beach volleyball, bowling, field hockey and rowing for women, and volleyball and wrestling for men.
