QUOTEABLE: HEAD COACH MCGEE MOODY
“This is why our student-athletes come here. They want to be a part of this environment. The team race that goes on (at the SEC Championships) is incredible. The atmosphere is fun and there’s so much fast swimming. The rest of the swimming world stops to see what the SEC is going to do— we sort of set the standard for the rest of the standard as far as what other conferences need to do to make NCAAs.”
QUOTEABLE: HEAD DIVING COACH TODD SHERRITT
“The biggest thing I see is that the team has started to pick up its pace. I thought we made a really good turn coming out of Christmas. Between our last meet and now, we’ve made some minor adjustments and things are really coming together. It’s fun to see that because some of these kids think they won’t peak at the right time, but they don’t always know that coach has that map and at certain times things are going to kick into place.”
UP NEXT FOR THE GAMECOCKS
South Carolina’s divers will compete next at the NCAA Zone Championships in Auburn, Ala., from March 11-13. Select student-athletes will compete at the 2019 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on March 20-23 (women’s) and March 27-30 (men’s).
