Swimming at North Carolina Sunday for Regular Season Finale

Gamecocks fresh off pair of wins vs. Gardner-Webb in dual meet on Thursday

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina swimming and diving travels to Chapel Hill on Sunday to face North Carolina in the regular season finale. The dual meet begins at 1 p.m. ET and will be live streamed on the ACC Network Extra.

The Tar Heel men are ranked 20th, while the women are slotted 24th in the latest CSCAA Top-25 Poll

“We’re going to have to be at our best, and I think our team is ready,” said head coach McGee Moody. “Mentally they are prepared. It’s an opportunity for us to go in and knock off two top-25 teams. That’s what we expect to do. I think they’re peaking physically at the right time. As we move into this last training phase before SECs, this is going to be a huge meet for us.”

The MeetMobile app will carry live scoring for the meet.

Sunday’s dual at UNC will mark the Gamecocks’ third meet in the last eight days. South Carolina is fresh off Senior Day wins vs. Gardner-Webb on Thursday at Carolina Natatorium. The men’s and women’s teams each tallied 11 event wins in the 32-event dual meet.

Freshman Hayley Mason, a local product from Dreher High School, had a big day against the Runnin’ Bulldogs on the women’s side, notching individual wins in the 200 back (2:00.11) and the 500 free (5:02.88).

On the men’s side, transfer Luke Massey made his Gamecock debut notching a pair of wins in the 100 breast (54.38) and the 200 breast (2:02.24).

Both teams will be following strict guidelines with adherence to the SEC Medical Guidance Task Force Requirements for COVID-19 Management.

South Carolina will be off from competition after the dual to prepare and train for the SEC Championships in late February. This year’s conference meet has been split into three separate events due to COVID-19.
