South Carolina Teams Up with ANC to Elevate the Fan Experience at Williams-Brice Stadium
Videoboard Upgraded
When South Carolina fans filled Williams-Brice Stadium to start the 2021 College Football Season, they experienced a new videoboard in the north end zone that is nearly two times as sharp as the previous board.
The University of South Carolina and ANC, an experience design and execution company, unveiled the completion of the new video board in time for the Gamecocks’ first home game of the season.
The new 8mm LED Surface Mounted Device (SMD) video screen, at 36-by-124 feet, will deliver unmatched quality, with more than 6 million pixels. Featuring 1344 pixels high by 4512 pixels wide, the greater-than-HD screen will provide superior contrast and colors compared to the older display. Utilizing the newer SMD technology compared to the old display, the screen features greater pixel density which provides crisper visuals, particularly for fine details, even at short viewing distances.
“It was time to replace the old board a year ago, but with the environment we were in it just didn’t make sense,” said South Carolina Athletics Director Ray Tanner. “Once we decided to move forward this season, our main challenge was the timeline to get it done for opening day. We felt our new partner, ANC, was the only company that could deliver both the premium technology and within an extremely limited window.”
In addition to programming for football game days, the display will create a more robust experience with endless opportunities for programming at the myriad events that take place at Williams-Brice Stadium. The Lighthouse Technologies LED display will be driven by ANC’s vSOFT™ Control System and will feature unlimited content possibilities to transform every event at the stadium. ANC is the exclusive North American distributor and service partner of Lighthouse Technologies.
“We have enjoyed working with the entire team at the University of South Carolina, a university whose number one goal is to provide a great experience for student-athletes and fans,” said George Linardos, CEO, ANC. “From top to bottom, everyone at the university strives to create great experiences and we’re proud to begin building a partnership with them as they continue to enhance their game day experiences.”
