Schultz Receives SEC Diver of the Week Honors

Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina graduate diver Brooke Schultz has been named SEC Diver of the Week for the second time since joining the team in January.

“Once again I’m excited about Brooke’s continued improvement, especially on the 3-meter dive,” said head diving coach Dale Schultz. “We’re trying to add some different dives to her list before the SEC Championships. She has continued to train hard and work hard as we head into championship season.”

Schultz, a native of Fayetteville, Ark., swept the springboard events in the Gamecocks’ meet versus Missouri on Saturday. She achieved NCAA Zone qualifying scores in both events, indivudualy earning the team 18 points.

In the 1-meter dive, Schultz scored a 310.05 to take first place. Her score was nearly 30 points higher than the second-place finisher.

Schultz scored a 378.15 in the 3-meter dive, the highest score in the conference this season. Her score led all divers by over 60 points.

This marks the Gamecocks’ fourth SEC Diver of the Week selection this season with two titles belonging to Schultz and two to freshman Sophie Verzyl.
