2013: Junior defensive tackle who turned in a big year for the Gamecocks… named first-team All-American by Sporting News… was a second-team All-American according to the A.P., CBSSports.com, Lindy’s Sports and Athlon… earned third-team All-America distinction from Phil Steele and College Sports Madness… was a unanimous first-team All-SEC selection… named one of four permanent captains… started 11 of the 12 games in which he appeared… logged 39 tackles, including 27 solo stops… led the team and tied for third in the SEC with 9.5 sacks… led the team and was tied for fourth in the league with 13.5 tackles for loss… also credited with three quarterback hurries, a pass breakup and a fumble recovery… came off the bench to register three tackles including a 22-yard sack in the season opening win over North Carolina… collected a sack and a fumble recovery in the win over Vanderbilt… logged a 14-yard sack in the win at UCF… matched the team high with six tackles against Kentucky, including a 10-yard sack and two tackles for loss… had a pair of tackles for loss including a sack at Tennessee before leaving the contest with a sprained knee… named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week by Athlon Sports, the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week by the league office and the National Defensive Lineman of the Week by College Football Performance Awards for his efforts at Mizzou… credited with a team-high six tackles including five solo stops… had 3.0 tackles for loss, accounting for 22 yards, including a pair of sacks… tacked on another tackle for loss against Mississippi State… did not play against Coastal Carolina while recovering from a concussion… had six tackles including 2.5 sacks and a quarterback hurry in the win over Clemson… played in 35 games, making 28 career starts, with 23.5 tackles for loss and 13.0 sacks… recognized as the Everyday Hustle Award winner for the defense at the 2013 spring game.

2010: Originally signed with South Carolina in February 2010… attended Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy where he was a four-star prospect and considered the nation’s third-best prep school player by Rivals.com… regarded as a four-star prospect by Scout.com and 247Sports… coached by John Shuman.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Greenwood (S.C.) High School in 2010… named to Parade Magazine’s 47th annual All-American High School Football Team… earned all-state honors as a senior as selected by The State… logged 77 tackles (41 solo), nine sacks, 17.5 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries (one for touchdown) and two blocked kicks… selected to play in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas and in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl… earned second-team all-state honors as a junior after logging 75 tackles, including 21 for a loss, and 17 sacks… also ran track at Greenwood… considered a four-star prospect, the nation’s ninth-best defensive tackle, the state’s seventh-best player and the nation’s 91st-best player overall by Rivals.com… given a three-star rating and considered the No. 33 defensive tackle in the country by Scout.com… rated a four-star prospect, the 11th-best defensive tackle and 124th overall on ESPN.com’s Top 150… ranked as the 19th-best defensive lineman in the country by SuperPrep… rated 53rd on PrepStar’s Top 150 Dream Team… also had offers from Clemson, LSU, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Florida State and North Carolina.

PERSONAL: Kelcy Quarles was born January 23, 1992… is a public health major… father, Buddy, played at South Carolina from 1984-87 for Coach Joe Morrison.
