Ladi Ajiboye Bio

Senior defensive tackle who figures to be a stalwart along the defensive front for the Gamecocks in 2010… considered the Gamecocks[apos] top interior lineman… could be an all-league pick in his final campaign… named to the preseason third-team all-league team by Athlon Sports… has tremendous quickness and power… has started 32 games over his first three seasons in the Garnet & Black, second on the squad behind Cliff Matthews, recording 106 tackles… earned the Weight Room Effort Award for the defense in the spring of 2010.

2009: Sat out the first three games before returning to the starting lineup in game 4 against Ole Miss… started each of the final 10 contests… recorded 45 tackles including 4.0 tackles for loss… logged six tackles including five solo stops against Kentucky… had 1.5 tackles for loss at Alabama…. notched five solo stops at Tennessee… named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week following the win over Clemson in which the Gamecocks limited All-American back C.J. Spiller to just 18 yards rushing… had a career-high 10 stops, including eight solo tackles, in the bowl loss to UConn.

2008: Limited early in the fall by a broken right hand… started in 12 of 13 contests… did not start against Kentucky when Carolina opened in a three-man front… recorded 22 tackles including 17 solo stops… logged a season-high five tackles against Vanderbilt… had a sack against Georgia and a half-sack against Wofford.

2007: Named second-team Freshman All-America by Sporting News and third-team Freshman All-America by CollegeFootballNews.com… also named Freshman All-SEC by both the SEC coaches and Sporting News… made 10 starts, most among the squad[apos]s freshmen… registered 39 tackles, most among the defensive tackles… 27 of the 39 tackles were solo stops… tied for third on the squad with 3.0 sacks… made his first career start against Georgia… had a sack against SC State… registered a season-high six tackles, including 2.0 sacks in the win at North Carolina… had five stops against LSU and Arkansas… recovered a fumble versus Florida… enrolled in January.
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Banneker High School in College Park, Ga. in 2006… the school also produced former Gamecock Carlos Thomas… coached by Benny Crane… was credited with 74 tackles including five sacks as a senior after logging 80 tackles and 10 sacks as a junior… named his team[apos]s Best Defensive Player… invited to play in the North-South All-Star Game… competed in the shot put for the track & field team.

PERSONAL: Olufemi Oladipupa Ajiboye was born September 15, 1987… is a criminal justice major… enjoys playing video games… was offered by South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Illinois, Louisville, Michigan State and Minnesota out of high school… selected South Carolina over Virginia Tech after attending prep school.
