Cody Gibson Bio

2014: Senior who moved to tight end early in fall camp after playing tackle throughout his Gamecock career… excellent blocker who saw action in every game making five starts… caught his only pass at Kentucky for a 27-yard gain in second start of the season… had an 11-yard kickoff return against the Vols… played in 40 games over the past five seasons with 11 starts.

2013: Junior offensive tackle who suffered a sprained right knee injury early in fall camp which kept him sidelined for the first three games… saw playing time in each of the final 10 games, primarily on special teams… saw his most action at Arkansas, versus Mississippi State and against Coastal Carolina… missed most of the spring after undergoing minor knee surgery.

2012: Sophomore offensive tackle who played in nine games, making a pair of starts… got the starting nod at right tackle against East Carolina and UAB… garnered one of the Outstanding Weight Room awards handed out at the spring game.

2011: Earned valuable experience…played in seven of the last 10 games, starting four at the right tackle spot…. got the starting nod against Kentucky, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Arkansas… named the Most Improved Offensive Lineman in the spring.

2010: Petitioned for a medical redshirt as a true freshman… suffered a sprained left knee during preseason practice on August 9… played in the season opener against Southern Miss.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played on the offensive line at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Fla., graduating in 2010… played for coach Yusuf Shakir… helped his team to the third round of the state playoffs as a senior after reaching the 4A title game during his junior campaign… received the Big Bend (nine counties) of Florida Offensive Lineman of the Year Award for 2009… was the first offensive lineman to also be nominated for the Big Bend Offensive Player of the Year Award… named to the Florida first-team All-State Class 4A by the prep writers… considered a three-star prospect and the nation[apos]s 64th-best offensive tackle by Rivals.com… rated a three-star prospect and the nation[apos]s 85th-best offensive tackle by Scout.com… regarded as a three-star prospect and the nation[apos]s 50th-ranked offensive tackle by ESPN.com… had offers from East Carolina, USF, Maryland, Illinois, Indiana, Middle Tennessee, Tulane, Marshall and Iowa State before committing to the Gamecocks in July of 2009.

PERSONAL: Daniel Cody Gibson was born August 30, 1992… has a degree in criminal justice… brother, Dustin, was a four-year football letterwinner at Florida International.
