CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: In two seasons, Borchardt served a valuable role for the Gamecocks in the circle…She finished her career ranking second in South Carolina history with 53 relief appearances…Also stood in a tie for fifth in wild pitches (25). 2011 (SENIOR): Threw in a record 32 games in relief, without making a start…Compiled 74.0 innings, collecting two saves while improving her numbers from a year before when she threw one more frame…Posted a 6-4 record with two saves…Had 10 appearances where she didn’t give up a run…That included her first, where she picked up the win in a two-inning relief stint against Charleston Southern (2/11), striking out five…Tallied her first career save with three innings of hitless relief versus Furman (2/12)…Had a save and a win on back-to-back days, closing down the second win over Charleston Southern (4/5) before getting the victory with two innings of scoreless relief against North Carolina (4/6)…Tossed her longest game of the year against Kentucky (4/23), going six innings, giving up two runs, one earned…Hit in three games, providing the Gamecocks the boost in a win over Providence (3/5) with her 2-for-2 effort…Had a triple and four RBI, a career best, in the win. 2010 (JUNIOR): Played in 43 games while starting 39 on the year…Began the season as an outfielder before she was shifted into the circle for the last two-thirds of the year…Hit .224 on the season, fourth on the team, while leading the team with five stolen bases…Had five two-hit games on the year, including in her debut against Coastal Carolina (2/14)…Scored three runs and drove in three more, both career highs, in a 2-for-4 outing against Loyola (Ill.) in the FAU Strike Out Cancer Tourney (2/27)…Compiled the second-longest hitting streak on the team, going six games with a hit from the North Florida game (2/20) in Orlando through the second meeting against Providence (2/28) in Boca Raton, Fla….Went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI in the second game against No. 12/10 Georgia (4/24)…Made 28 appearances in the circle, compiling a team-best 4.76 ERA in 75.0 innings of work…Mainly a relief specialist, she went 4-6 on the year…Her best performance came in Joyce Compton’s 950th win at South Carolina, as she tossed five innings of scoreless ball against Coastal Carolina (3/24), giving up four hits in the relief win…Picked up her first win in the second game against Longwood (2/16), throwing four shutout innings out of the pen…Also garnered the only win in SEC play, throwing her first complete game of the season against Mississippi State (4/17)…Allowed four runs, two earned, on four hits and four walks in the triumph…Followed that with her other complete game on Sunday against the Bulldogs (4/18).
