2011-12 – Had season-best times at the Nike Cup Invitational in the 50 freestyle (22.25), 100 freestyle (48.06), 200 freestyle (1:42.51) and 100 breaststroke (1:01.74)…Sat out the spring with an injury…Named to the SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll.

2010-11 – Posted career-best 200 freestyle time in Alabama/Georgia meet (1:39.77)…Improved on previous best by more than four seconds…Also posted season-best times in 50 free (22.16) and 100 free (47.07) in Alabama/Georgia meet…Also swam the 100 breast and 400 IM during the season.

PRE-COLLEGE – Graduated from South Mecklenburg High School…Coach was Leslie Berens…Team captain… Was team MVP for three years…All-conference and All-America performer…Helped relay team to runner-up finish in state championships in 2007 and 2010… Member of SwimMAC Carolina…Was part of Junior National Championship team…Helped relay team to third place at Junior Nationals.

PERSONAL – Full name is Timothy Hill Berens…Born February 27, 1992, in Charlotte, N.C….Parents are John and Leslie Berens…Has a brother, Ricky, and a sister, Jessica…Brother swam for the University of Texas and was a 2008 Olympian, where he won a gold medal and set the world record in the 800m freestyle relay along with Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte and Peter Vanderkaay…Mother played volleyball at Miami University (Ohio) and served as Tim[apos]s high school swim coach…Plans to major in business…Chose South Carolina because of the coaching staff, the business school and because of its proximity to home.
