Columbia, S.C. – Sophomore swimmer Sharntelle McLean represented her home country of Trinidad this past week at the FINA World Championships in Melbourne, Australia.
McLean competed in the 100m freestyle on Thursday March 29 and the 50m freestyle on Saturday March 31. Mclean finished 38th in the world in the 50 free with a time of 26.89. She finished 64th in the world in the 100m with a time of 59.51.
McLean had the Gamecock’s season top time in both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle. She also earned points for the team at SECs finishing 15th in the 50-yard freestyle event. McLean also qualified for NCAAs, where she finished 39th in the 50-free.
