CLEMSON, S.C. – South Carolina field athletes completed the final day of competition at the Tiger Paw Invitational with two second place finishes.

Aimee Kodat threw a seasonal best 40-05.50 (12.33m) to take ninth in the women’s shot put. Staley Foster was the other female Gamecock to place Saturday as she heighted a 5-02.25 (1.58m) in the high jump, good also for a ninth place finish.

For the No. 14 men, the Gamecocks had performances from Aaron Searles in the triple jump, Jason Cook and Jeff Merkt in the shot put and Matt Shuler and Kevin Brinkley in the pole vault. Searles took 13th in the triple jump at 43-02.25 (13.16m). Cook took second in the shot put with a toss of 56-07.25 (17.25m) and Merkt came in 15th at 43-01.50 (13.14m). In the pole vault, Shuler claimed third at 15-10.50 (4.84m) and Brinkley claimed fifth at 15-04.25 (4.69m), a season best. Transfer Elliott Haynie competed as an unattached athlete and took second at 16-04.25 (4.99m).

South Carolina returns to action this Saturday when the team hosts the Gamecock Invitational.
