The South Carolina football team placed eight players on Phil Steele’s 2010 Midseason All-SEC team, it was announced today.

The Gamecocks were represented on the first team by a pair of sophomores, wide receiver Alshon Jeffery and cornerback Stephon Gilmore. Freshman tailback Marcus Lattimore and sophomore defensive end Devin Taylor earned spots on the second team, while junior quarterback Stephen Garcia, junior defensive tackle Travian Robertson, senior defensive end Cliff Matthews and senior punter Spencer Lanning were named to the third team squad.

The No. 19/20 Gamecocks (4-2, 2-2 SEC) will travel to Nashville this weekend to face the Vanderbilt Commodores (2-4, 1-2, SEC) in another SEC Eastern Division showdown. Saturday’s game will kick at 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. CT) at Vanderbilt Stadium. The game will be televised on FSN with Rich Waltz handling the play-by-play, former Kentucky quarterback Tim Couch providing the analysis and Jenn Hildreth on the sidelines.
