COLUMBIA, S.C. – In this third installment of the Gamecock Softball Squawk Box, the Gamecocks get posed the question “What did you do last weekend?” All student-athletes have a busy schedule, but in season, the off-weekend is a rare occurrence, if ever. With the softball team booked at least through the middle of May (with practice this weekend and the regular season ending May 8), let’s see what the players did with their last free weekend of the semester.

Ashley Chastain: I rested up and hung out with my teammates. 🙂

April Borchardt: I spent the last free weekend with my boyfriend. We went out to a Japanese steak house and went to see a movie.

Molly Brossart: I went to the field and played with my puppy Nike, hung out with the team and got some much needed rest and relaxation.

Kandyce Redondo: I took my puppy Soco to the field to run around and play with Kylie and Molly and their puppy Nike. And I caught up on homework and sleep.

Kylie Morin: I lay in bed all weekend and didn’t move a muscle! Took full advantage!

Audrey Broyles: I did a lot of relaxing, and went to the men’s basketball game with our recruits. I also got all caught up on this season’s The Bachelor. 🙂 Go Emily!

Kierstyn White: I spent the day with my sister, Kaitlyn, in Charleston. I watched her scrimmage (she plays softball at the College of Charleston) then we went shopping.

P.J. Fulmer: For our last free weekend, I just tried to enjoy everything. A lot of people came in town to visit, and I went home to spend time with my family before the season starts.

Julie Sarratt: On Sunday, P.J., Sarah, Dana, Samie and I went to lunch at P.J.’s grandparents house, which was the best meal I’ve had in a while! And for supper Sunday night, we had taco night!

Hannah Milks: I slept late and went to the basketball game. Hung out with my sisters (teammates), and an early taco dinner. Later we watched the Celtics beat the Lakers. Better luck next time, Garcia. You still my dog though, G.

Dana Hathorn: For my last free weekend, I spent it with my cousin and team. My cousin, who goes to Tennessee, visited me. Saturday night, our team celebrated Kaela’s birthday and, on Sunday, the freshman and Samie ate lunch at P.J.’s grandma’s house. After, we went to Hannah’s for taco night! Here are some pictures:

Carolyn Bryan: I relaxed, relaxed, relaxed and dyed my hair super blonde!! Oh yea!

Jackie Slawson: I worked and hung out with the team and my family.

Samie Garcia: On Saturday morning, I did all my laundry, and we celebrated Kaela’s birthday on Saturday night. On Sunday, P.J. took us to her grandma’s house, and she cooked lunch for us.
