COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina will have seven divers competing this week at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships. The event runs Monday through Wednesday at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.

A total of 85 divers (53 women, 32 men) will be at the meet, which is one of five Zone championships held to determine NCAA participants.

The top five female and top four male divers from each event at their respective zone diving meet will be eligible to compete at the NCAA championships. Additional place finishers in each event at each zone will be eligible based on the number of student-athletes from that zone who finished in the top 16 in that event at the previous year’s championships NCAA championships. All eligible divers must have achieved the zone qualifying score prior to the NCAA championships in all events they wish to participate.

Senior Cole Miller (1-meter/3-meter/platform), sophomore Jordan Gotro (1-meter/3-meter/platform), and freshman Lyle Markman (1-meter/3-meter) are set to compete for the Gamecock men, and senior Patricia Kranz (1-meter/3-meter/platform),, junior Lauren Lamendola (1-meter/3-meter) and freshman Marissa Roth (1-meter/3-meter/platform), and Julia Vincent (1-meter/3-meter) will dive for the women.

Miller holds three school records including the record on the platform (6 dives), which he set with his sixth-place finish (383.70) at the SEC Championships earlier this season. He also placed fourth overall on the 1-meter springboard and eight on the 3-meter. Miller has a combined 10 individual wins on the season and leads the Gamecock men in all three diving events.

Kranz finished third overall on the 3-meter springboard and 6th on the 1-meter at this season’s SEC Championships. She holds the school record in platform diving (5 dives), which she set at last year’s SEC Championships.
