Final Results

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The South Carolina women’s golf team concluded play at the Mason Randolph Championship on Sunday, finishing tied for 12th after shooting a 295 (+7) on the final day of competition. The Gamecocks recorded a score of 888 (+24) for the tournament, which was held at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.

Katelyn Dambaugh’s steady play continued on Sunday, as the junior carded her second straight round of even par (72) despite bogeys on the final two holes. She finished 24th overall (+2) and recorded three birdies on the tournament’s last day.

Senior Sarah Schmelzel and junior Jia Xin Yang both placed 52nd in the field with an overall score of 9-over. Schmelzel recorded a three-over (75) for the third straight day, while Yang carded a 4-over (76), recording pars on 14 of 18 holes.

Ainhoa Olarra turned in her best performance of the week on the final day, tallying birdies on No. 1 and No. 10 to shoot an even 72. The sophomore finished 71st with a combined score of +14. Freshman Isidora Nilsson, who fired a 2-under (70) on Saturday, finished the tournament tied for 90th after being disqualified on the final day.

Alabama won the tournament with a score of 848 (-16) after posting a 2-under 286 on Sunday. Northwestern (-15) finished second, while Georgia (-10) rounded out the top three. The Crimson Tide’s Lakareber Abe took home medalist honors with an overall score of 12-under.

We made a very strong comeback and played well for the vast majority of the day. We stumbled on our last few holes, but there are a lot of positives from this young group that will propel us into next week.

UP NEXT
The Gamecocks return to action next week (Sept. 27-Sept. 29) for the ANNIKA Intercollegiate. The three-day tournament from Reunion, Fla. gets underway on Sunday at Watson Course.
