CHARLESTON, S.C. — Paced by another round under par from senior Katelyn Dambaugh, South Carolina women’s golf moved up the leaderboard on day two of the Cougar Classic. The Gamecocks posted a 286 (-2) Monday at Yeamans Hall Club to climb to seventh place at 2-under 574 for the tournament.

Dambaugh, who sits two stokes off the individual lead in a tie for third, carded a second-round 68 (-4) to bring her 36-hole total to 137 (-7). She tallied seven birdies on the day, starting on the par-4 first, and the Goose Creek, S.C., native made the turn at 2-under 34. Dambaugh added another birdie on No. 10 before recording back-to-back birdies on Nos. 14 and 15 for the second-straight day. Her final birdie of the afternoon came on the par-5 18th.

Gamecocks Isidora Nilsson, Marion Veysseyre and Ainhoa Olarra will all head into Tuesday’s final round in a tie for 44th at 2-over 146. Nilsson posted an even 72 in round two following three birdies and three bogeys, while Veysseyre totaled three birdies of her own and ended her day with six-straight pars on the way to a 73 (+1).

Olarra earned 13 pars to go along with two birdies, as the sophomore turned in a 2-over 74 in her second round. Freshman Anita Uwadia carded a 73 (+1) Monday and sits in a tie for 76th place (150, +6) with one round to play.

Furman (558, -18) and North Carolina (559, -17) remained in the top two spots on the leaderboard, while UCF fired a second-round 283 (-5) to move up to third place alongside Wake Forest at 9-under 567. Sierra Sims of the Demon Deacons and Furman’s Natalie Srinivasan hold the individual lead with a two-round total of 135 (-9).

Round Changer

For the second-straight round, Katelyn Dambaugh boasted a strong finish after notching birdies on Nos. 14, 15 and 18. The senior is one of two Gamecocks with double-digit birdies this week.
