Nov. 9, 2016

Dual Meet: South Carolina at Clemson (Women Diving)
Date:Wednesday, November 9
Time: 5 p.m. ET
Facility: McHugh Natatorium
Location: Clemson, S.C.

CLEMSON, S.C. — The University of South Carolina women’s diving program swept Clemson in all three events, including platform, 1-meter and 3-meter, on Thursday at the McHugh Natatorium.

“Everyone did a good job today,” said head diving coach Todd Sherritt. “This makes 21 years undefeated against the Clemson diving team. They are definitely getting better every year.

“Julia [Vincent] continues to stay undefeated in the 3-meter and put together another solid 1-meter performance. Allyson Nied did not miss a dive platform, getting her NCAA Zone qualifying score and easily winning. She also had her best 3-meter performance and hit her NCAA Zone qualifying score. Marissa Roth did some outstanding dives off all levels. Mikaela [Lujan] did a great job in the 1-meter, taking second and earning her NCAA Zone qualifying score. Overall, I’m happy about today. We still have a ton of work, but we are in a good place.”

Junior Julia Vincent led the Gamecocks as she took first place in the 1-meter and 3-meter, remaining undefeated in 3-meter on the season. Vincent posted a mark of 311.40 on the 1-meter and 344.41 on the 3-meter.

Allyson Nied claimed her first victory of the season as she controlled the platform with an overall score of 273.83, putting her 47.63 points ahead of the second place finisher. Nied also took second place in the 3-meter with a score of 302.71.

Mikaela Lujan followed Vincent in the 1-meter, finishing second after posting a mark of 279.53. Lujan also posted a score of 267.45 in the 3-meter.

Marissa Roth recorded a score of 288.83 in the 3-meter, 268.80 in the 1-meter and 202.28 in the platform.

The women join the rest of the swimming and diving program Nov. 17, for the Georgia Tech Invite in Atlanta.
