Three Gamecocks Named to Weekly Honors

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Three members of the University of South Carolina swimming and diving program were awarded weekly honors, including junior Julia Vincent, sophomore Emma Barksdale and junior Nils Wich-Glasen.

Vincent was named the Women’s Diver of the Week by the Southeastern Conference for the fourth time this season and the fourth time in her collegiate career. She is currently undefeated in the three-meter dive and has a 7-2 mark in the one-meter dive this season. She took first on both boards at the dual meet with Duke on Jan. 14., posting a season high in the three-meter at 373.28.

Wich-Glasen was named the Men’s Swimmer of the Week by the SEC for the first time this season and also the first time in his career. In the dual meet at Duke, he took first in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard breaststroke.

He posted a time of 1:57.38 in the 200-yard breaststroke to earn a NCAA ‘B’ cut and set a new pool record at the Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion, topping the previous time of 1:58.91, which he set in 2015.

Barksdale was named the Women’s Conference Swimmer of the Week for the SEC by CollegeSwimming.com. She won the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard IM at Duke. In addition to her individual events, she contributed to the first-place finish by the Gamecocks in the 200-yard freestyle.

She posted a time of 2:00.53 in the 200-yard IM to earn a NCCA ‘B’ cut and set a new pool record at the Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion, besting the previous time of 2:02.00 set by Duke’s Leah Goldman in 2015.
