2023:
Named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team … Finished the season with a 7-6 record with one save … Made 36 appearances in the circle, starting eight times … Combined to help seven shutouts … Second on the team in strikeouts and innings pitched … Nationally ranked in fewest hit batters (13th), walks per seven innings (39th), and strikeout-to-walk ratio (64th) … Her 28 relief appearances rank 28th all-time in a season … Threw a complete game against Mercer (2/24) … Also recorded a season-high six strikeouts against Mercer (2/24).
2022:
Made 18 appearances in the circle, starting 10 games… Earned a complete game victory over No. 24 UCF (3/4)… Earned a save against Lipscomb (2/12).
2021:
Posted 4.60 ERA with a 3-3 record in 45.2 innings of work… Had 17 appearances with five starts and one complete game… Earned Carolina’s second win of the season on 2/21 against Auburn in Jacksonville… Went all seven innings with 116 pitches… Also earned wins over Longwood (2/26) and Gardner-Webb (3/16).
2020:
Made her Carolina debut with a 5-3 record and 3.18 ERA in 39.2 innings of work… Made 11 appearances, six of which were starts… Tossed four complete games and one shutout… Recorded one save and finished with 30 strikeouts… In just her second career start on Feb. 22 against No. 8 Michigan she went all seven innings in a complete-game shutout with just two hits allowed… Earned first career save on Mar. 1 against Charlotte… In her first SEC appearance, a start on Mar. 6, went the distance with nine strikeouts to help Carolina to a 4-2 win over No. 13 Georgia… Named SEC Freshman of the Week on Feb. 24.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Shined at First Presbyterian Day School… Holds school record for career strikeouts, career hits, single-season ERA (0.88), career-opposing batting average, single-season strikeouts, single-season hits, career home runs, and single-season wins… Was notably named the Region 7A Player of the Year her senior year… Helped lead team to Georgia High School Class A Private Softball state championship her sophomore year… Was selected as the All-State Pitcher of the Year that season, as well.
PERSONAL:
Karson Whitley Ochs is the daughter of Denna and Keith Ochs… Picked Carolina over Georgia, Syracuse, Texas A&M and Tennessee… Member of the National Honors Society, Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Sports Advisory Council, High Honor Roll and was named a Regional Positive Athlete Georgia Softball winner.
